France and Pakistan Aim to Boost Bilateral Ties and Trade

Karachi, French Ambassador Nicolas Galey met with the Pakistani Prime Minister, delivering a congratulatory message from the French government on the Prime Minister’s re-election and discussing the enhancement of Franco-Pakistani relations. The meeting underscored the nations’ efforts to strengthen their partnership, focusing on trade, investment, and multilateral cooperation.

According to Press Information Department, Ambassador Galey’s visit symbolized the ongoing commitment between France and Pakistan to deepen their diplomatic and economic relations. The Prime Minister, joined by Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar and SAPM Tariq Fatemi, expressed gratitude for the congratulations received from French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal and reminisced about positive interactions with French President Emmanuel Macron.

The talks highlighted past engagements, like the UNGA Session in 2022 and the Paris Conference on the New Financing Pact for Climate Change, emphasizing the warm relations and mutual support between the two countries. The Prime Minister praised Macron’s involvement in international conferences on Pakistan and reiterated an invitation for an official visit to Pakistan.

The Prime Minister’s call for enhanced cooperation in trade and investment was met with the announcement of an upcoming visit by French corporate leaders to Pakistan, signaling potential growth in economic ties. Key issues like the stabilization of the Pakistani economy, peace efforts in Gaza, and the situation in Afghanistan were also discussed.

Ambassador Galey outlined plans for a French delegation’s visit to Pakistan to further bilateral discussions and expressed France’s interest in collaborative efforts at multilateral forums, including the United Nations.
