Islamabad, During an official visit to Germany, Pakistan Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir engaged with top German civilian and military officials, where Germany praised Pakistan’s contributions to regional peace and counter-terrorism.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, General Munir’s meetings in Germany included discussions with German Chief of Defence General Carsten Breuer and Lieutenant General Alfons Mais, among other key figures. The visit highlighted the strong military cooperation between the two nations, with General Munir receiving a Guard of Honour from the German Armed Forces.
The engagements also focused on enhancing mutual interests and strategic ties, with General Munir visiting the Army Combat Training Centre in Gardelegen, where he was briefed on the training processes for the German Army and other international contingents. He witnessed a demonstration on urban warfare and toured various training facilities.
High-level discussions also took place with Germany’s Foreign Policy and Security Advisor to the Federal Chancellor, Mr. Jens Plötner, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Tobias Linder, and State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Nils Hilmer. Throughout these meetings, the German leadership expressed appreciation for the Pakistan Army’s significant role in combating terrorism and its efforts to maintain stability in the region.
