Islamabad: Continuing its efforts against economic and resource crimes, the government, through various agencies, is intensifying its crackdown on smuggling, hoarding, and power pilferage, achieving significant results in arrests and financial recoveries.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the crackdown, supported by the SIFC and effective from September last year, has led to the registration of 173,212 FIRs against individuals involved in power theft. This has resulted in the arrest of more than 83,295 offenders and the recovery of approximately 104 billion rupees.

In addition to actions against power theft, the operation has also targeted smuggling activities, successfully recovering large quantities of fertilizers, wheat, sugar, and Iranian oil, among other items.
