Gwadar: As the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) enters its second phase, Gwadar is on the brink of becoming a significant international trade hub. The city is witnessing the launch of major infrastructural projects aimed at enhancing its logistical and economic capabilities.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, several key projects are underway in Gwadar as part of the CPEC initiative. These include the construction of the New Gwadar International Airport, projected to cost $230 million, and the East Bay Expressway, with an investment of $179 million. Additionally, the Gwadar Port is being developed with a $300 million investment, and the China Pakistan Friendship Hospital is being built at a cost of $100 million. Together, these projects signify a major leap in infrastructure development aimed at boosting Gwadar’s role in global trade.
Furthermore, the establishment of Free Zones One and Two, covering an area of 2,281 acres, is set to enhance Gwadar’s capacity as a trade and economic hub. This development is expected to attract significant international business and investment, positioning Gwadar as a pivotal gateway for trade in the region.
