Heavy Rainfall Causes Extensive Damage in Bajaur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Bajaur: A recent heavy rainfall event in Bajaur District on August 4, 2024, resulted in significant property damage, affecting numerous residences and public infrastructure.

According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority, the storm damaged multiple homes and structures throughout the district. Specific losses include the destruction of several rooms and boundary walls, with individual reports highlighting damage at personal residences such as those of Raz Muhammad and Raza Shah, as well as public properties including a police station and a PTCL Exchange. Additionally, livestock perished in the event, exacerbating the hardship for affected families.

The PDMA is coordinating with local authorities to assess the full extent of the damage and to facilitate recovery efforts. The agency is also monitoring weather forecasts and preparing for further response actions if necessary to mitigate the impact of ongoing seasonal rains.
