Lahore, September 03, 2019 (PPI-OT): Inspector General of Police Punjab Captain retired Arif Nawaz Khan took immediate notice of death of an accused due to alleged police torture in North Cantt Police Station, Lahore and ordered Addl IG internal accountability bureau to submit the report of incident within 24 hours and take strict legal and departmental action against the responsible persons without any delay. As per directions of IG Punjab, Addl IG Azhar Hameed Khokhar with his team are investigating the facts at North Cantt police station whereas case has been registered against six officials on the application of brother of the murdered person.
Case has been lodged against incharge investigation Nasir Baig, TSI Zeeshan including four unknown constables. IG Punjab while giving directions to officers said that there is no place for those officers and officials who are involved in trespassing of powers and torture under police custody. He directed that there should no delay in taking strict punishment after undertaking departmental enquiry against such officers and officials.
