IIOJK people facing severe difficulties, sufferings: Ali Muhammad Sagar

Srinagar, June 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference General Secretary, Ali Mohammad Sagar, has said that the only work of the current rulers is to put the Kashmiri people against the wall at all levels, make them needy and powerless and all the government machinery is engaged in the same work. Ali Muhammad Sagar addressing a meeting at the party headquarters in Srinagar, today, said that from the lack of democracy to the non-provision of daily necessities of life, the Kashmiri people are facing severe difficulties and sufferings.

He said on the one hand, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been deprived of an elected government for the past five years, and, on the other, such measures are being taken day by day, which is destroying democracy and this situation has become dire for the people of the territory. He said the Kashmiri people are being deliberately pushed towards poverty and bankruptcy while the poor people are being forced to starve. He said that people in Jammu and Kashmir were provided 15 kg ration per person and from April 2016, the quantity of ration was reduced to 11 kg per person and now only 5 kg ration per person is being provided. The people have to face severe hardship even for just five kilos of ration, he added.

Ali Muhammad Sagar said the electricity crisis is getting serious day by day and due to increase in electricity fee and installation of smart meters, electricity cut is increasing. Those families who used to find it difficult to pay Rs 150 monthly electricity fee are now receiving bills of at least Rs 1150. He said that how a poor citizen earning a few thousand rupees will pay huge electricity bills in this era of inflation.

The NC leader said bureaucracy cannot be a substitute to the elected government adding that during the last 5 years, Jammu and Kashmir has been brought to the brink of destruction and the historic territory is being neglected at all levels. He said every sector of Jammu and Kashmir is in decline at present, while the rulers and people holding high positions are making big claims of development but the situation on the ground is completely opposite to these claims. He said during the last five years nothing has been done except pushing Jammu and Kashmir into darkness.
