In 14 districts 4 million children to be administered polio drops: Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar

Karachi, October 12, 2015 (PPI-OT): Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that campaign against polio is being launched in 14 districts of Sindh from 12 October to 15 October and during this drive, four million children under 5 years age will be covered in Hyderabad, Larkana, Dadu, Jamshoro, Sanghar, Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, N. Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad Khairpur and Kamber. This he said in a statement issued here on Monday.

He said that in Karachi during last drive against Polio, 93,130 children in Baldia, 120,553 children in Bin Qasim, 71, 446 children in Gadap, 63,735 children in Gulberg, 91,628 children in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, 30,140 children in Kemari, 57,643 children in Korangi, 36,033 children in Landhi, 28,433 children in Liaquatabad, 30,643 children in Malir, 17,288 children in North Nazimabad, 45,764 children in North Karachi, 92,498 children in Orangi, 7,381 children in Saddar and 120,273 children in SITE had been administered polio drops.

The Health Minister added ‘Campaign against Dengue has been extended to all districts of Sindh and having completed first phase, the second phase will be launched soon.’ He told that during last week, 186 cases of dengue virus diagnosed patients were reported in Karachi while only one case was reported in Hyderabad. ‘During this year 2,258 cases of dengue have been reported yet. In Karachi as many as 2,203 while in other districts of the province 55 cases of dengue affected patients have been registered.’ he concluded.
