Srinagar, In a significant escalation, the BJP-led Indian government is procuring advanced weaponry from Israel and Germany to augment its military capabilities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), intensifying the suppression of local demands for self-determination.
According to Kashmir Media Service, IIOJK Police Chief RR Swain disclosed during a press briefing in Hiranagar, Kathua, that the new arms acquisitions are aimed at bolstering the police’s effectiveness against Kashmiri freedom activists. “The procurement of sophisticated weapons from Israel and Germany will enhance our ability to manage challenges posed by freedom fighters more efficiently,” Swain commented.
The addition of these high-tech weapons to the arsenal of Indian forces in Kashmir reflects an ongoing strategy to fortify the military presence in the region, a move that has been met with criticism and concern from local and international observers. Critics draw parallels between India’s tactics in Kashmir and those employed by Israel in Palestine, noting similar patterns in the dispossession and displacement of local populations.
