Srinagar, Indian troops and security forces have escalated their cordon and search operations (CASOs) across various districts of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), continuing these intensive activities for several days amid heightened tensions in the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the ongoing operations involve a heavy deployment of troops, paramilitary forces, police, and Village Defence Guards (VDG), employing advanced surveillance technologies such as drones and sniffer dogs. These operations, now in their sixth day in districts like Poonch, Rajouri, and Doda, were triggered by an attack on an Indian Air Force convoy that resulted in casualties.
The search operations have led to the detention of over two dozen individuals for interrogation, with authorities analyzing CCTV footage for further leads. Additionally, similar operations have reached their twelfth day in Udhampur and Kathua districts, underscoring a significant military presence in the area.
Recent operations in the Redwani area of Kulgam have also been marked by violence, with the reported deaths of three youths and the destruction of several homes, allegedly using chemical substances by the troops. These incidents have further exacerbated the already tense atmosphere in the region.
