Iranian president ebrahim raisi to visit pakistan in first head-of-state visit since february elections

Islamabad, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, will undertake an official visit to Pakistan from 22 to 24 April 2024. This visit will mark the first time a head of state has visited Pakistan since the country’s general elections in February 2024.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Raisi will be accompanied by his spouse and a high-level delegation comprising the Foreign Minister, other cabinet members, senior officials, and a large business delegation. The visit will include meetings with the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Chairman of the Senate, and the Speaker of the National Assembly. Additionally, the Iranian President will visit Lahore and Karachi to meet with the provincial leadership.

The agenda for the visit is extensive, focusing on strengthening Pakistan-Iran ties and exploring cooperation in a range of areas including trade, connectivity, energy, agriculture, and people-to-people contacts. Discussions will also encompass regional and global developments, with a particular emphasis on bilateral cooperation to combat terrorism. The close historical, cultural, and religious ties between Pakistan and Iran set the stage for a fruitful dialogue during the visit.

The upcoming visit is viewed as an opportunity to enhance the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Iran and to deepen their cooperation in various fields.
