Islamabad Calls for Halt to By-Election Campaign Activities

Islamabad, In a definitive move to ensure a level playing field ahead of the upcoming by-election on Sunday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has directed all political entities and candidates to cease their electioneering activities by midnight tonight.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, this mandate, issued under section 182 of the Elections Act, 2017, enforces a shutdown of all political rallies and corner meetings. The Commission has made it clear that any promotional material that either supports or opposes any candidate must also come to a halt following the stipulated time. The ECP’s press release emphasized that any breach of this directive will result in strict punitive measures against the transgressors.
