Islamabad Hosts National Simulation Exercise for Seasonal Emergency Preparedness

Islamabad, A two-day National Simulation Exercise, titled ‘Spring-Thaw 2024’, commenced in Islamabad today, focusing on improving responses to potential emergencies anticipated during the spring and early summer seasons. The exercise was inaugurated by Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, and aims to bolster the disaster management cycle, emphasizing the protection of vulnerable communities and fostering international cooperation.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the simulation exercises are designed to prepare participants for a range of disasters that could occur in the coming months, including droughts, forest fires, glacial lake outburst floods, heatwaves, and industrial fires. By applying their knowledge in simulated scenarios, participants are expected to enhance their readiness and response strategies for actual emergencies.

This initiative underscores the importance of proactive disaster management and the need for a collaborative approach involving both national and international stakeholders to mitigate the impacts of seasonal emergencies effectively.
