Islamabad, A special reception was held in Islamabad to honor Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, the Chairman of the World Forum for Peace and Justice and a notable Kashmiri leader based in the United States, for his ongoing efforts and advocacy for Kashmiri self-determination.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the event was organized by Dr. Pir Ali Raza Bukhari, the Permanent Representative of the Pakistan Council for Social Welfare and Human Rights to the United Nations. Prominent figures such as APHC-AJK Convener Mahmood Ahmed Sagar and President of Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK, Raja Faheem Kayani, also attended and spoke at the reception. The gathering highlighted the unresolved status of Jammu and Kashmir following the Indian government’s actions on August 5, 2019, stressing that the dispute remains internationally recognized despite these changes.
Speakers at the event reiterated the call for resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions and emphasized the importance of the international community’s role in establishing peace in South Asia. They condemned the human rights violations in occupied Kashmir, including the arrest of journalists and political activists. The assembly also discussed strategies for a peaceful resolution, advocating for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
Dr. Fai and other speakers underscored the need for a concerted action policy on Kashmir, praising Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to internationalize the issue and highlight the plight and aspirations of the Kashmiri people. The reception ended with tributes to Dr. Fai for his international advocacy and the affirmation of the intrinsic bond between Kashmir and Pakistan.
