Islamabad, In a meeting aimed at bolstering economic ties, Italian Ambassador Ms. Marilina Armellin discussed potential Italian investment in Pakistan with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Finance Minister Aurangzeb outlined significant economic achievements including a reduced current account deficit and a high-performing stock market, highlighting the successful completion of a nine-month Stand-By Arrangement with the International Monetary Fund and ongoing negotiations for a new, long-term program. He emphasized the government’s strategic efforts to broaden the tax base and the planned privatization of state-owned enterprises such as Pakistan International Airlines and major airports.
The discussion also covered Pakistan’s potential in the IT and agriculture sectors, inviting Italian investors to explore opportunities. Ambassador Armellin expressed optimism about Pakistan’s economic trajectory and saw potential for enhanced cooperation in various sectors, including textiles and machinery. The meeting reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to deepening bilateral relations.
