Islamabad’s CDA Launches Climate Change Fund Under Interior Minister’s Directive

Islamabad: Following instructions from Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has established a Climate Change Fund, marking a pioneering environmental initiative in the city. This fund is aimed at countering the impacts of climate change within the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and enhancing local sustainability efforts.

According to Press Information Department, the fund, which forms part of a broader Climate Change Initiative, will also include a “Carbon Credit Program” intended to significantly increase green cover by planting 4 to 5 million trees across 2000-10,000 kanals in various designated areas including new sectors and open spaces. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa and his team for their leadership in setting up the fund, highlighting it as a commendable step towards environmental conservation.

Chairman Randhawa also announced the approval of the “Margalla Hills Fund,” which allocates 1.5 percent of revenue generated from recreational spots in the Margalla Hills for their protection and beautification, ensuring a focused investment in the region’s natural assets.
