Italy Pledges Support for Poverty Reduction and Rural Development in Pakistan

Islamabad, Italy has pledged continued support for Pakistan in efforts aimed at poverty reduction and rural development. This commitment also extends to areas such as technical and vocational training, cultural heritage, and the agriculture sector. The promise was reiterated during discussions between Italy’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Marilina Armellin, and Pakistan’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Ahad Khan Cheema.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussions highlighted the ongoing development initiatives funded by Italy. Ambassador Armellin, accompanied by Francesco Zatta, Head of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, also briefed Minister Cheema on the progress of the current development projects. These projects include a special assistance package provided by Italy in response to the catastrophic floods that hit Pakistan in 2022.

Minister Cheema expressed appreciation for the long-standing bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Italy and assured diligent execution of the projects currently underway.
