ITFC discusses strategy to support small, medium enterprises in member states

Jeddah (IINA) � The International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), a member of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group, held a meeting on Sunday on the sidelines of the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Group, with the participation of a large number of government officials, to discuss the role of ITFC in supporting small and medium enterprises in member states.

In this context, ITFC Chief Executive Officer Eng. Hani Salem Sonbol said in a statement that the meeting discussed the obstacles to growth for Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the member states, in addition to the ITFC’s strategy to support these enterprises, and remove the obstacles in order to advance them to contribute effectively in supporting the economies of these countries.

Beside the ITFC Chief Executive Officer Eng. Sonbol, the meeting was attended by Recep Bicer, chairman of Turkey’s Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization (KOSGEB); Adetokunbo Mukhail Abiru, director general and chief executive officer of Skye Bank PLC (Nigeria); and Mohd Rithaudden Makip, second deputy chief executive officer of SME Corporation Malaysia.

In his statement, Eng. Hani Sonbol said that the 42nd Annual Meeting of the IDB Board of Governors will witness the signing of several important agreements between the ITFC and the governments of Burkina Faso, Mali and the Gambia.
