Jharkhand Community Demands Justice for Murdered Farmer

Ranchi, The discovery of a missing 44-year-old farmer’s body in a field has ignited protests in Jharkhand, India, with the local community and the farmer’s family calling for the apprehension and prosecution of those responsible.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the deceased, identified as Mangal Oram, had been missing since February 29 before his body was found in the Rourkela area. The unsettling discovery led to significant unrest, with a large group of local residents and family members rallying at the Jhirpani police station, demanding prompt action against the perpetrators.

Oram was known in his community for his agricultural activities and for providing transportation for fellow farmers to local markets. His last known trip was to the Jhirpani weekly market on the day he vanished. After delivering other farmers to the market, Oram and his van were not seen again, leading to fears of foul play.

The protesting group articulated their suspicions that Oram might have been abducted and murdered. In light of these events, the local MLA, Shankar Oram, criticized the police for their inability to locate Mangal promptly. He revealed that the last known communication with Mangal was a call from a Sukru Pradhan, after which both individuals’ phones were switched off, and they became unreachable.

The community’s outcry reflects broader concerns over safety and justice in the region, with residents insisting on a thorough investigation and accountability for those involved in Mangal Oram’s death.
