Kalat Irrigation Department Assures Dam Safety Amid Rumors

Kalat: Addressing concerns amid circulating rumors, the Kalat Irrigation Department has confirmed the structural integrity of all dams within the district, particularly refuting claims regarding the Azam Mard dam’s alleged collapse.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Government of Balochistan, Executive Engineer Juma Khan Mandukhel clarified that the Azam Mard dam is secure and currently holds 15 feet of water, which is expected to positively impact agricultural productivity and boost underground water levels in the near future. Mandukhel also addressed a separate incident involving a privately constructed dam in Dasht Gauran, which failed due to poor management and excessive water accumulation, issuing a caution to local landowners about the risks of improperly managed dam constructions. The department assured residents that there is no imminent threat of dam failures in the district but advised against unnecessary travel during the monsoon season.
