Karachi Chief Minister Condemns May 9 Violence, Highlights Party’s Commitment to Law and Unity

Karachi, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, speaking at the Message-Aman-May 9 event organized by the Sindh Information Department, vehemently condemned the violent incidents of May 9. He described them as part of a larger conspiracy against Pakistan’s national institutions, orchestrated by enemies of the state with the involvement of political figures.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, the event, which took place in a local hotel, was attended by various dignitaries including provincial ministers and members of civil society. Murad Ali Shah accused certain political leaders of fostering divisiveness and inciting followers to act unlawfully, particularly against national monuments and heroes. He drew parallels between the leadership styles of the People’s Party, which has historically emphasized adherence to legal frameworks and national unity, and those he claimed incite division.

The Chief Minister also recounted historical moments of bravery and the pacifistic responses of the People’s Party to personal and political attacks, contrasting these with recent destructive actions by opponents. He noted that despite provocations, the People’s Party has consistently upheld the law and worked towards strengthening democratic institutions. The event also served as a memorial for the sacrifices of the martyrs, with families and children of the martyrs present, underscoring the party’s respect and recognition for their contribution to the nation.
