Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Organizes Defence of Pakistan Day Program

Karachi, September 07, 2012 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said that the army had defended its home land in the 1965 war with the fighting spirit coupled with valor and determination as the war created a sense of patriotism among the whole nation. Today we need the same spirit as a nation.

He expressed these views while addressing as chief guest to the ceremony held at the Defence Day of Pakistan in Civic Center. He said despite of being a smaller force than the enemy, we fought as a unit and showed the world that we could compete with any huge force if we got united.

Administrator Karachi said the lively nations always learned from their history and the wars we fought in past were a lesson for us. Former Governor of Sindh Lieutenant(R) General Moinuddin Haider said the number of our martyr soldiers in the ongoing war against terror was more than our soldiers martyred in the two wars of 1965 and 1971 as until now more than 6 thousand of our soldiers and over 35 thousand civilians martyred in this war.

He said we need to expose the people who were enemy of the state and elect only the patriotic and eligible people in the coming general elections. Former Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice(R) Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui said we did not learned from our past wars and the country was passing through a very critical phase of our history and we were facing lot of challenges now.

We could only compete with our enemy by relinquishing all the differences and become Pakistani. Prominent columnist Brigadier(R) A. R Siddiqui said the 1965 war was a great test for the Pakistani nation and it was not ordinary the way in which the nation got united with its army and achieved a great success in this war.

Major(R) Inayat Sher Khan said it was impossible to beat the enemy and foil its evil designs for our army without the support of the whole nation. The Pakistan Defence Day was a very important and historical event in our history.

Administrator KMC Muhammad Hussain Syed on this occasion announced to give an award to renowned scholar and poet Arshad Sabri in recognition of his services to the nation. Director Media Management Ali Hassan Sajid also spoke on this occasion.
