Inspector General of Police, Home Secretary Punjab meeting on law and order

Lahore, September 07, 2012 (PPI-OT): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman has said that under the present circumstances amid regional situation, security has emerged as the biggest challenge and all the security and law enforcing agencies should work together like a team to defeat the criminals and terrorists.

The provincial police chief further said that special police pickets are being set up in the border areas of the Punjab province while the police patrolling has also been intensified to keep a strict check on the inter-district movement of the suspicious elements.

Flanked by Home Secretary Punjab Shahid Khan, the IGP expressed these views while presiding over a high-level meeting held at Rawalpindi today to review the law and order situation.

RPO Rawalpindi Capt (retired) Muhammad Zubair, Commissioner Rawalpindi Imdad Ullah Bosaal, CPO Azhar Hameed Khokhar, DPO Attock and senior officers from other security and law enforcing agencies were also present on this occasion.

Addressing the meeting, the IGP said that crimes, terrorism, and sectarianism are inter-linked and the law enforcing agencies are working together to overcome these challenges by utilizing all available resources. The Punjab police chief also said that the police are tightening its screw against the criminals and terrorists and an effective strategy is being implemented at district level to control crimes and to maintain the law and order situation. The IGP also warned the officers that any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.

On this occasion, Home Secretary Punjab Shahid Khan said that the criminals were using latest technology and resources to commit crimes as the nature of the crimes and terrorism has also changed drastically. He said that the police and other security and law enforcing agencies have also devised a joint strategy to over the serious security challenges.
