Islamabad: Kashmir bleeds”, a touching poem by Ms Hanum, a girl scholar representing the famous Indonesia University Maju won spontaneous applause from the participants of the Kashmir Solidarity Day Seminar organized here jointly by the Kashmir Solidarity Forum, STIAMI(Higher Institute of Administrative Studies, Indonesia) and the Embassy of Pakistan Jakarta. says a press release received here today from Jakarta.
Concluding the three hour proceedings, Hanum was invited on the stage to give comments on behalf of her institution and she chose to express them in a poem:
Kashmir Bleeds
O’ leaders of the world,
Kashmir bleeds
The reign of terror and
The domain of fire,
All speak volumes,
Of the oppressor’s misdeeds
Decades of agony
Long shadows of tyranny
Sobbing lasses and
Whimpering lads
No UN, No US is there
To blunt and shun the Enemy
How many widowed
How many orphaned
How many desecrated
How many maimed
On the pretext of security
How many have been gunned
Nobody bothers, nobody cares
For Kashmir has no natural treasures
Who will heed the sorrow of mothers
Who will wipe their tears
Who does bother about matters petty
That don’t offer any pleasures
Isn’t there any Qasim now
Or a Tariq, Gibraltar fame
Uqba Nafeh or Ubaida Jarrah
Son of Islam, pride of Mohammad
Bold, brave and courageous Warrior,
Just give me a single name.
Kashmir bleeds, O lords of the world,
And Lord of the Worlds sees it all,
Better behave with sanity and justice!
The nature has retribution on hold
The Almighty has His patience still,
Better we listen to the Kashmiris call.
Addressing the seminar as Key Note Speaker, Charge d’ Affaires, Sajjad Haider said Pakistan would continue to extend moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris in their just struggle for the right to self determination. He said for supporting the Kashmir cause Pakistan itself had to face military aggression from across the border thrice in the past, but Pakistan would never give up its support to the Kashmiris.
He said certain vested interests dared to equate the Kashmiri struggle with acts of terror which was totally illogical and a senseless thing to do. “Rather it is the Kashmiris who have been subjected to years of terrorism by the occupation forces”, he asserted. During the Q and A session, he also replied queries from the participants drawn mainly from media, educational institutions, Indonesian intellectuals and Pakistani community.
To a question he said it was more than six decades ago that Kashmiris were promised a plebiscite which hasn’t been held to date. “Delaying justice is grave injustice”, he said. To another question, he said there should not be any doubt in anybody’s mind that Kashmir issue must be resolved in accordance with UN resolutions. He thanked the Indonesian participants who turned up in large number to attend the seminar. “This is true encouragement for those who support the Kashmir cause”, Sajjad added.
Special Guest Speaker from Indonesia University Maju, Ms Rina said Kashmir issue needed more projection in the largest Islamic country of the world, Indonesia. She said it was necessary to focus on educational institutions, think tanks and parliamentarians in this regard.
She was full of praise for the present democratic government in Pakistan for effectively projecting the Kashmir cause at international level. “This spirit should be kept up” she said.
Chairman Kashmir Solidarity Forum, Dr. Zahir Khan in his address dilated on the history of the Kashmir dispute. On this occasion, he also presented the new updated edition of his book on Kashmir to participants of the seminar.
The participants were all praise for Hanum for presenting the poem “Kashmir bleeds” which they observed was a true depiction of the Kashmiris sentiments.
Earlier, Head of Chancery, Mr. Zafar Iqbal read out the messages of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan issued on the occasion of the Kashmir Solidarity Day.
