Kashmir freedom movement enjoys women’s support: KTK

Srinagar, June 29, 2014 (PPI-OT): Kashmir Tehreek-e-Khawateen Chairperson Zamaruda Habib and Secretary General Ms Shamim Shawl addressing a function and press in Islamabad have said that the ongoing struggle for right to self-determination continues to enjoy support from Kashmiri womenfolk since the start of the movement.

Zamruda Habib condemned the continued detention of teenagers including school-going boys and said that the baffled puppet regime was engaged in framing fake cases against youth.

She called upon the human rights organizations including the International Committee of Red Cross to arrange a visit to the jails of occupied Kashmir to assess the human rights situations at jails.

Ms Shamim Shawl addressing the participants said, “The courage and determination of the women is exemplary. They are a source of great support for struggling people of the territory. They raise their voice for the prisoners under detention .They also come on the roads for disappeared persons. We can also see them doing relief and rehabilitation work at different places.”

“This makes them vulnerable to the state terrorism. Sister Zamruda Habib has been in the vanguard of this extraordinary struggle and spent five years of her life in the notorious Tehar jail.”

“Women are also used as a weapon of war. There are a lot of psychological patients due to oppressive tactics adopted by occupation authorities,” she added. At the end she elaborated the fields in which the Kashmir Tehreek-e-Khawateen works.
