Kashmiri inmates not being presented in courts on due dates

Srinagar, June 15, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed serious concern over the plight of illegally detained Kashmiri Hurriyet leaders and activists in the jails of India and the occupied territory. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, talking to a three-member delegation of International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) led by Jean Francois Sonnay that met him at his residence in Srinagar, informed it that despite the court orders, the authorities were not presenting the political detainees before the courts on listed dated.

The APHC Chairman told the delegation about thousands of the disappeared persons and unmarked mass graves in occupied Kashmir. He added that it was a human issue and the ICRC could play important role in revealing facts in this regard.

The Mirwaiz said that the ICRC and other human rights organizations could highlight the rights violations in the territory by Indian troops at the international level and could draw the attention of the international community towards the plight of Kashmiris.
