Rehmani pays tributes to martyred Nazir Ahmad Shah

Srinagar, June 15, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League (JKPFL), Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has paid glowing tributes to mujahid commander Nazir Ahmad Shah on his 19th martyrdom anniversary. Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement in Islamabad said that the Special Police Task Force had slaughtered the martyred commander brutally in custody in Srinagar on June 15, 1994, and his bullet-riddled and mutilated body was found on a roadside.

“Nazir Ahmad Shah and other martyrs of freedom will always live in the hearts of the Kashmiris and no power on earth can suppress the will of the people or deprive them of their right to self-determination,” he said.

The JKPFL Chairman urged Indian parliamentarians and philanthropists to feel the pulse of the Kashmiris for freedom and understand implications of their government’s intransigent military policy vis-à-vis Kashmir. State terrorism in any form or manifestation can never bring peace to Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of South Asia, he warned.

Nazir Ahmad Shah was a political-crusader during 1970s and 1980s, who loudly protested against the Indira-Abdullah Accord in a public rally of Sheikh Abdullah in 1975 in Bandipora, questioning Sheikh’s authority to sign one more agreement of shame with India.

When India failed to honour the urges of the people and their peaceful struggle, and contrarily resorted to military tactics against the Kashmiris, Nazir Ahmad Shah along with other dedicated political workers came forward to uphold the banner of armed struggle against the Indian occupation.

When the Chief of the then Jihad Force, Jamal Afghani, was martyred, Nazir Ahmad Shah as second in command followed the martyrdom-Karwan of great freedom fighters. After him, the spying network of India employed more ruthless methods to eliminate honest and committed educated youth, and thus many more commanders of the Jihad Force were brutally killed across Kashmir.
