Kashmiri student found hanging in Hyderabad Deccan varsity

Srinagar, March 03, 2013 (PPI-OT): A 29-year-old Kashmiri student, Mudasir Kamran, who was pursuing Ph.D in English at English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, Deccan, was found hanging in his hostel room.

His colleagues told newsmen in Srinagar over phone from Hyderabad that a police team came to arrest him during the daytime after he had some verbal argument with another student.

Mudasir Kamran hailed from Parigam, Pulwama. His colleagues said that it could not be ascertained that whether he committed suicide or somebody killed him.

Meanwhile, the Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Mudasir Kamran was killed as he had played an important role in holding demonstrations against the execution of Kashmiri youth, Muhammad Afzal Guru. It said that earlier Indian police had also arrested him.

The JI strongly condemned the murder of the Kashmiri student and held the Indian government responsible for it. It demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment to his killers.

It expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and called for complete safety and protection to Kashmiri students studying in different cities of India.
