Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Investment Conference Draws Major International Partners, Focuses on Economic Development

Peshawar, In a significant development for regional economic prospects, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Finance Advisor Muzamil Aslam hosted an investment conference attended by representatives from the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Union, and USAID. The conference aimed to bolster investments in integrated and border districts of the province.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the event showcased the province’s economic potential and strategic initiatives in various sectors including energy, minerals, and tourism. Muzamil Aslam outlined the region’s economic achievements and future priorities, noting that while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s GDP is a fraction of the national total, its contributions in terms of remittances and natural resources are substantial.

The conference, held at a private hotel in Peshawar, was not just a forum for dialogue but also a platform for detailed presentations on ongoing and upcoming projects worth billions. Aslam emphasized the province’s unique position with no domestic debt and significant infrastructure projects like the BRT and Swat Motorway developed through partnerships.

Highlighting the province’s rich mineral resources and potential for hydropower, the Finance Advisor called for increased public-private partnerships and foreign investment in these areas. He also stressed the importance of sustainable practices in forestry to enhance timber exports, a sector with considerable economic promise.

The successful organization of the conference by senior provincial officials underscores Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s proactive approach in seeking development through both domestic initiatives and international collaborations.
