KP Excise Minister Announces Major Upgrades to Motor Vehicle Taxation System

Peshawar, In an effort to enhance the taxation system within the province, the Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control, Mian Khaliqur Rahman, chaired a meeting focused on the Motor Vehicle Software Database and Software Upgradation. The minister outlined plans for introducing a clean, transparent, and digital taxation system aimed at benefiting the public and streamlining processes for motor vehicle owners in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister Rahman emphasized the necessity of accelerating efforts to address technical issues within the motor vehicle software database and its full implementation across the province. He announced that the centralized database software project would be expanded to include all 25 districts of KP as swiftly as possible, marking a significant step towards digitization.

The upcoming system enhancements will feature digitization of taxation, online verification, as well as property and motor car tax processes. An integrated drug prevention system is also slated for implementation, highlighting the ministry’s commitment to utilizing technology for improving citizen services and combating narcotics.

Additionally, the minister detailed several innovative features to be integrated into the software database, including e-invoicing, a text messaging system for communication with vehicle owners, a vehicle audit trail for enhanced transparency, universal number plates for consistency across the province, and NADRA verification to ensure the accuracy of owner information.

Rahman reassured citizens of KP that these advancements are part of the government’s promise to fulfill the trust placed in them by the electorate, aiming to significantly improve the efficiency and reliability of vehicle-related services in the province.

This initiative represents a major overhaul of the motor vehicle taxation and registration system in KP, indicating the provincial government’s dedication to embracing digital solutions for public service improvements.
