Lahore Carpet Exhibition Set to Attract Over 100 International Buyers

LAHORE: More than 100 international buyers from regions including the United States, Europe, Russia, Italy, and Türkiye are expected to attend the International Exhibition of Handmade Carpets in Lahore this October. The announcement was made by Mian Atiq-ur-Rehman, Chairman of the Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA), and Riaz Ahmad, Chairman of the Exhibition Committee, during a recent meeting.

The PCMEA leadership emphasized the importance of extraordinary efforts and institutional support given India’s parallel exhibition. They urged relevant government bodies to collaborate and intensify preparations for the event.

The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is set to offer special travel packages to foreign buyers pending official approval. The PCMEA officials stated that once clearance is received, package offers will be extended to facilitate the visitors’ journey to Pakistan.

Chairman Exhibition Committee Riaz Ahmad provided a detailed briefing on the preparations, highlighting the focus on surpassing regional competitors with superior organization and product displays. The meeting saw participation from key association members, who reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the exhibition’s success.

Atiq-ur-Rehman and Riaz Ahmad called on TDAP to expedite its decision on incentive packages, noting that India has already extended similar offers. They stressed the urgency of informing international buyers promptly.

The event is described as a pivotal opportunity for the local carpet industry, potentially boosting exports and securing valuable foreign exchange. Participants expressed determination to enhance Pakistan’s international presence through high-quality displays of unique carpet designs.

The exhibition will also feature side meetings with foreign buyers to strengthen commercial ties and explore emerging global trends.
