LCCI Proposes Traffic Police Desks in Lahore Educational Institutions for Easier License Access

Lahore, The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has proposed an initiative to the Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, and Chief Traffic Officer Mustansar Feroze, seeking the establishment of Traffic Police Desks at various universities and colleges in Lahore. This move is aimed at facilitating students in obtaining their driving licenses conveniently and addressing legal issues related to traffic violations.

According to Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LCCI President Kashif Anwar emphasized the need for a balanced approach in enforcing traffic rules and regulations. While acknowledging the importance of adherence to traffic laws, he suggested that measures such as increasing temporary penalties, launching awareness campaigns, and enhancing facilities for driving license issuance could be more effective than criminalizing students. He stressed that criminal records for traffic violations could severely impact students' futures, including their eligibility for government jobs and international travel.

Kashif Anwar highlighted the benefits of establishing Traffic Police Desks within educational institutions. These desks would not only ease the process of obtaining licenses for students but also help in reducing the workload at other service centers. Additionally, he expressed appreciation for the ongoing collaboration between the LCCI and Lahore Police in providing efficient services to LCCI members and the general public at the LCCI premises.

The LCCI President expressed hope that the Inspector General of Police and the Chief Traffic Officer of Lahore would take prompt action on this proposal. He urged them to establish the proposed Traffic Police Desks and to develop a strategy for dismissing cases against students who currently lack driving licenses.
