Maersk to Establish First Green Transhipment Terminal in Karachi

Karachi, AP Moller-Maersk, a global leader in logistics, has expressed its intention to set up Karachi’s first Green Transhipment Terminal (GTT). This announcement was made during a visit to Pakistan by a delegation led by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Keith Svendsen.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the establishment of the GTT is seen as a significant step in strengthening Pakistan’s position as a key player in regional connectivity. This project aligns with the efforts of the Special Investment Facilitation Council to foster an investment-friendly environment within the country.

The initiative by Maersk is expected to enhance the logistical capabilities of Karachi, supporting not only local but also regional economic activities. The development of the GTT promises to bring advanced, environmentally friendly technologies to the port infrastructure, setting a new standard for shipping and transhipment operations in the region.
