Karachi, July 12, 2013 (PPI-OT): Managing Director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Misbahuddin Farid paid a visit to Minister Local Bodies Syed Awais Muzaffar in his office to briefed them about KW and SB’s working system, performance and issues KW and SB is currently facing.
M.D KW and SB requested Minister Local Bodies to visit KW and SB Head offices and allow KW and SB to brief him about KW and SB Departments and Development Projects. M.D Farid also requested his appointment to visit KW and SB installation in order to understand the working.
During the meeting M.D KW and SB briefed Minister Local Bodies about major issues KW and SB is facing including Tariff problem with NEPRA, Karachi Master Plan, Collection of Betterment Charges from Cantonment Boards, Illegal Possessions on KW and SB Land allocated for development projects and transfer of lands to KW and SB.
Minister Local Bodies Awais Muzaffar expressing that he would visit KW and SB Head office soon directed M.D KW and SB to ensure just provision of Water to the citizens of Karachi and ensure that citizens do not face shortage in any area during Ramadan. He said that it is KW and SB’s responsibility to provide water and sewerage facilities to every citizen, therefore all officers and staff must devise a strategy to ensure swift provision of facilities throughout Ramadan.
M.D KW and SB assured Muzaffar that precautionary measures were taken before Ramadan and practical steps have been taken to improve facilities during Ramadan. All Officers and Field Staff has been directed to visit their concerned areas and resolve all complaints in timely fashion. KW and SB is a public services institution and it is not only our moral, religious but professional duty to ensure swift and just provision of facilities, he added.
Farid further briefed that he pays visits to different areas with concerned Officers and issue immediate directives on any complaints received. He said that he also pays unannounced emergency visits to different areas in order to observe problems more closely and ensure that they are resolved.
Faird assured Minister Local Bodies that Deputy Managing Director Technical Services, Chief Engineers, Superintendent Engineers and other concerned staff has strictly been directed to visit their concerned areas and ensure that citizens receive swift facilities during Ramadan.
