Karachi, March 07, 2013 (PPI-OT): Managing Director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board has requested Federal Government to collect billions of outstanding dues from defaulters through National Accountability Bureau (NAB). He said that NAB is already handling recovery of outstanding dues for Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) similarly recovery from KW and SB should also be handed over to NAB.

He said that KW and SB defaulters list comprise of Federal, Provincial and Other institutions. These institutions collectively owe KW and SB more than 26 billion rupees. We have been contacting Federal Government, Provincial Government and Heads of different government organizations however billions in dues have not been paid yet.

Water Board is a public service institution which is going through financial crises, he added. We are responsible for water supply to more than 20 million citizens of the metropolis. Whereas, the maintenance of infrastructure that comprises of thousands of pipelines, several filter plants, pumping stations, treatment plants, and reservoir cost the institution heavily, said Misbahuddin Farid.
