A police personnel was martyred and two others injured when unknown terrorists opened fire on a police check post near an archaeological site in Takht Bhai area of district Mardan today.
According to police, the injured have been shifted to Mardan Medical Complex.
Police have launched a search operation in the area to arrest the culprits.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of police personnel.
In a statement issued in Peshawar today, he prayed for the departed soul and early recovery of the injured.
Faisal Karim Kundi said police have rendered matchless sacrifices in the war against terror.
