Peshawar, In an unexpected move, Health Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah, Irrigation Minister Aqibullah, and former Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser conducted a surprise visit to several under-construction health projects in Swabi. Accompanied by key health officials, their visit aimed to assess the progress and ensure the swift completion of crucial health facilities in the region.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the delegation first inspected the Women and Children Hospital’s construction site in Swabi. Director General Health Services Dr. Shaukat Ali briefed the ministers on the project, which is estimated to cost 3.8 billion rupees with an allocation of 236 million rupees for this year. The 260-bed hospital, located on a 46-kanal site on Barlab road, is 55% complete, with a projected completion date of June 2025, pending fund availability.
The team also visited the District Headquarters Hospital Swabi, where they were informed about the demolition and reconstruction of the facility due to a collapsed building. Highlighting the urgency of operational necessities like electricity, the ministers issued directives to address the express line issue promptly.
Dr. Shaukat Ali provided an overview of the new hospital’s progress, noting that the project spans six kanals with a budget of 944.46 million rupees. With 93% of the construction work finished and 86% of the funds allocated, the ministers mandated that the hospital’s administration be transferred before April 30, underlining the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure in Swabi.
This visit underscores the provincial government’s dedication to healthcare development and the acceleration of projects to benefit the community.
