Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Placed Under House Detention in Srinagar

Srinagar, Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was once again placed under house arrest by the occupation authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, restricting his participation in public and religious events.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the decision to confine Mirwaiz at his residence aimed to prevent his attendance at a commemorative event for the late Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Yousuf Shah in Srinagar. The Anjuman Auqaf, in a statement, condemned the continuous house detention of Mirwaiz, particularly noting the impact of such restrictions on his religious duties during the holy month of Ramadan.

The organization highlighted that a significant number of people were expected to gather for the event in Srinagar, expressing deep disappointment over the authorities’ actions to prevent Mirwaiz from participating in and leading such religious gatherings.
