Srinagar, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah has accused Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of actively promoting religious polarization to influence the ongoing parliamentary elections.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Farooq Abdullah made the remarks while addressing a joint rally of the National Conference and Congress, as well as at separate meetings with party workers in Srinagar.
During his speech, Abdullah criticized Modi’s rhetoric, referencing a recent speech in Rajasthan where the Prime Minister allegedly attempted to undermine the Indian Constitution. Abdullah contended that Modi’s actions are designed to fragment the country and divide people along religious lines.
Abdullah asserted that the ‘INDIA bloc,’ a coalition of opposition parties, is united in its efforts to counter Modi’s divisive strategies and to reverse the perceived harm done during the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) tenure.
He also called for a more independent Election Commission and judiciary, emphasizing their role in safeguarding democracy and ensuring justice. The National Conference leader argued that the judiciary must remain independent, as it serves as a final recourse for citizens seeking justice.
