Moon appealed to implement Jan 5 resolution on Kashmir

Srinagar, January 04, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyet leaders Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and Zafar Akbar Butt have appealed to the UN General Secretary, Ban Ki-moon to implement January 5 resolution over Kashmir.

Shabbir Ahmad Shah in his statement issued in Srinagar has termed the lingering Kashmir dispute as threat to peace and stability of South Asia and called for early settlement of the dispute. He said that the presence of 700,000 Indian forces and black laws in Kashmir was the reason of unabated human rights violations taking place here and. He said Jammu and Kashmir is not a border dispute but an issue concerning the fate of 15 million population and if it is not resolved at earliest, all endeavours aimed at ensuring peace in South Asia will go waste.

Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the people of Kashmir would never compromise on their birthright to self-determination and would continue their struggle till success. Zafar Akbar Butt addressing different public gatherings in connection with mass contact programme at Parrypora, Baghaat and Gulshanager in Srinagar said that people of Kashmir had rendered matchless sacrifices for resolution of Kashmir dispute which would not go waste.

APHC leader, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, addressing corner meetings at Wanpoh, area of Islamabad, said that the United Nations was duty-bound to resolve the Kashmir conflict according to its resolutions. “Kashmir is a humanitarian issue but the United Nations despite passing several resolutions never took serious note of the Indian military oppression,” he said.

He said that it was on 5th January, 1949 that the United Nations Security Council adopted a resolution, acknowledging the right to self-determination of Kashmiris and giving them the right to decide their future by themselves. Peoples Freedom League leader, Muhammad Ramzan Khan in a statement also made the same demand.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Kashmir Tehreek-e-Khawateen, Zamruda Habib leading an anti-India and pro-freedom demonstration at Press Colony in Srinagar urged the UN to implement its resolutions over Kashmir. Pro-freedom and anti-India slogans were raised on the occasion.
