Village Defense Guard Injured in Firing Incident in Udhampur

Jammu, A Village Defense Guard (VDG) was injured today in a gunfire exchange that took place in a remote area of Udhampur district in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred near Panara village of Basantgarh during a routine patrol. The patrolling party, which included members of the Village Defense Committee (VDC) and Special Police Officers from the police-post Sang in Basantgarh, encountered suspicious movements in the forest area around Dhau in Seri Gallah-Basantgarh. The confrontation escalated when individuals hiding in a Dhok (a type of local hut) opened fire on the officers.

The reports specify that the exchange of fire resulted in one VDC member from Khaned sustaining gunshot wounds. Following the incident, the attackers are believed to have fled the scene. Local authorities are investigating the incident and searching for the assailants.
