Nasir Shah Advocates for Legal and Technical Frameworks at All-Party Conference on K-Electric Issues

Karachi: Provincial Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah pledged government support for any recommendations made by the All Parties Conference on legal and technical matters pertaining to electricity. The conference, hosted by Afaq Ahmed concerning K-Electric, saw participation from diverse political, social, and economic sectors at a local hotel.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Sindh, The minister emphasized the importance of legal and peaceful protests and noted the establishment of a parliamentary committee by the Sindh government. This committee aims to address public grievances related to K-Electric, focusing on issues like loadshedding and overbilling. The conference also discussed protections for consumers, suggesting that those using up to 200 units of electricity should not face disconnections for past due bills.

Shah outlined his recent visit to K-Electric’s Central Load Dispatch Center, where he examined load management and advocated for daytime load shedding to minimize nighttime disruptions. He also proposed shielding 90% of consumers from penalties due to the non-payment issues of a few. The conference ended with a commitment to further collaborate with K-Electric to enhance service delivery and customer satisfaction in the region.
