National Assembly Speaker and Deputy Speaker condemn mob’s Vandalism against Christians Community

Islamabad, March 10, 2013 (PPI-OT): Dr. Fehmida Mirza and Faisal Karim Kundi, Deputy Speaker National Assembly have strongly condemned the incident of burning of the houses of Christian community by a mob in Badami Bagh, Lahore.

The Speaker and Deputy Speaker while expressing grave concern over the incident, has asked the provincial government to ensure safety and security of lives and property of the citizens besides a through inquiry into the unfortunate incident.

The Speaker and Deputy Speaker said that safeguarding the rights of all citizens including religious minorities was the prime responsibility of the Government and it would continue undertaking every effort for protection of their rights as enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan.

They said that such acts of vandalism against minorities not only tarnish the image of the Islam but also is detrimental to the interfaith harmony and law and order in the country. They said that one should be allowed to take law into his own hands.
