National Conference Leader Criticizes Restrictions on Martyrs’ Day Commemoration in Srinagar

Srinagar: Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Additional General Secretary of the National Conference, strongly criticized the authorities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir for blocking a march intended to honor the martyrs of July 13, 1931, at Mazar-e-Shuhada in Naqshband Sahib, Srinagar.

According to Kashmir Media Service, during a party meeting in Srinagar, Kamal condemned the administration’s actions, which prevented people from paying tribute to historical figures revered for their resistance against oppression. He stated, “This egregious violation of our rights will not go unnoticed and people will teach a lesson to Bharatiya Janata Party in the upcoming elections. The 13th July martyrs demonstrated that non-violence and perseverance always triumph over oppression and tyranny in the end.” A resolution was passed at the meeting, denouncing the administration’s decision to disallow the commemoration. Kamal also remarked on the excessive security measures that have become a common sight during Martyrs’ Day, emphasizing the significance of the day in reaffirming the region’s commitment to principles of justice, fairness, and peaceful resistance.
