NDMA Issues Flash Flood Alert for DG Khan Hill Torrents

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a flash flood warning for the hill torrents of DG Khan Division, specifically targeting the districts of DG Khan and Rajanpur. The alert forecasts medium-level flash flooding expected to occur within the next 12 hours, continuing until 0800 hours on 13th August 2024.

According to Press Information Department, residents in the affected areas are strongly advised to stay updated by monitoring weather alerts and using the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert application, which is available on both Google Play Store and iOS App Store. This app provides timely alerts, advisories, and guidelines essential for public safety during extreme weather conditions.

The NDMA has also issued directives to all relevant departments to ensure that necessary precautions are taken to mitigate the potential impacts of the impending floods. The public is urged not to walk, swim, or drive through floodwaters and to use alternative routes to avoid areas prone to flooding. This proactive alert aims to prevent casualties and minimize damage in the face of likely flash flooding events.
