Netherlands Eyes Investment Opportunities in Pakistan, Discusses Privatization with Federal Minister

Islamabad: In a meeting today with Federal Minister for Privatization, Board of Investment and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, Dutch Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Henny Fokel de Vries, explored avenues for deepening bilateral ties and increasing investment in various sectors.

According to Press Information Department, the discussions underscored the potential for mutual benefits in education, health, and particularly in the dairy industry, a sector where the Netherlands excels. Minister Abdul Aleem Khan highlighted Pakistan’s strategic initiatives towards stabilizing its economy, including the privatization of loss-making State Owned Entities (SOEs) like PIA, DISCOs, First Women Bank, and State Life Insurance Corporation. The Minister pointed out that these efforts are critical for economic stability and invited Dutch participation in this transformative phase.

Ambassador de Vries expressed the Netherlands’ keen interest in fostering greater economic relations with Pakistan, especially in innovative agricultural practices that could benefit Pakistan’s development. She also praised the hospitality of the Pakistani people, reflecting positively on her tenure as ambassador.
