NSGP Project to be first step towards establishment of strong bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Russia

Islamabad, November 19, 2020 (PPI-OT): Russia-Pakistan Technical Committee on North South Gas Pipeline Project held third meeting in Islamabad to discuss the mutual cooperation for the development of the project. According to joint press statement by the committee, the meeting discussed the broad contours and parameters of the Project involving construction of a high pressure gas transmission pipeline from Port Qasim, Karachi to Kasur for transportation of RLNG towards northern side of the Country to meet the emerging gas shortage due increasing demand.

The project, a flagship strategic venture between Pakistan and Russian institution, will strengthen the long term bilateral ties between the countries through people-to-people contacts. In his concluding remarks the Minister for Energy Omar Ayub Khan said Pakistan envisages the finalization of Protocol to the Inter-Governmental Agreement as a first step towards the establishment of a strong bilateral relationship and strategic ties towards the Russian Federation.
