OGDCL Announces Production Commencement at New Development Well Chanda-7 in Kohat

Islamabad, Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has initiated production at the new development well Chanda-7, located in district Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The well was successfully tested, completed, and has been connected to the company’s Chanda Plant through a 1.3 km flow line. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the well has been drilled to a depth of 5492 meters, targeting the hydrocarbon potential of the Wargal, Kingriali, and Datta formations.

Currently, the Kingriali and Datta formations are producing 305 barrels per day (BPD) of oil and 2.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas. Additionally, 3.0 metric tonnes per day (MTD) of LPG is being recovered. The gas is being injected into the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) network, contributing to the national energy grid.

The venture involves a partnership with Government Holding Private Limited (GHPL) holding a 17.5% share and Orient Petroleum Inc. (OPI) with a 10.5% share, while OGDCL retains a 72% stake and operates the project.

Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced the successful revitalization of the Kunnar-8 well in district Hyderabad, Sindh province. The well has undergone comprehensive re-completion, including the installation of an Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) and the application of stimulation techniques. These efforts have significantly enhanced the well’s output, adding an additional 540 barrels of oil per day.

The Kunnar-8 well is a part of the OGDCL Kunnar Oil Field, where the company maintains a 100% working interest. This initiative highlights OGDCL’s commitment to maximizing resource recovery and enhancing production efficiency through modern recovery techniques. The project not only boosts OGDCL’s production capabilities but also contributes to the national energy security by rejuvenating mature wells.
