OIC Demands Greater Representation for Muslim Nations in UN Security Council Reforms

New York, The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has asserted the need for significant representation of the Muslim community in the proposed reforms of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). This stance was articulated during the recent Intergovernmental Negotiations (IGN) at the UN headquarters.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Munir Akram, spoke on behalf of the OIC. He emphasized that any reform of the UNSC must include adequate representation of the Muslim Ummah across all categories of membership to be acceptable to the Islamic world. The OIC’s position highlights the ongoing discussions surrounding the restructuring of global governance bodies to better reflect the modern geopolitical landscape.
