Karachi, The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has reported a substantial surge in production at the Nashpa Well – 10, marking a significant milestone in its production enhancement campaign. This achievement is expected to have a positive impact on the oil and gas sector in the region.
Situated within the Nashpa Development and Production Lease (D&PL) in the Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Nashpa-10 well has been the focal point of OGDCL’s strategy to boost hydrocarbon production. Through a rigless intervention in the Hangu-Lumshiwal formation, the company has successfully increased oil production by an impressive 900 barrels per day (BPD). This boost has been achieved with a wellhead flowing pressure (WHFP) of 720 PSI.
The enhanced production commenced on September 12, 2023, bringing the total daily oil production from Nashpa-10 to 1340 BPD. Additionally, the produced gas is being injected into the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) network, further contributing to the region’s energy resources.
Nashpa D&PL operates as a joint venture, with OGDCL holding the majority stake of 56.45%. Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) is the second-largest partner, owning 28.55% of the venture, while Government Holding Private Limited (GHPL) holds a 15% share. Nashpa-10 has been in production since December 27, 2020, initially producing 440 BPD of oil and 3.40 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas at a WHFP of 710 PSI from the Datta, Shinawari, and Samanasukh formations.
The remarkable increase in production at the Nashpa-10 well not only signifies OGDCL’s commitment to enhancing hydrocarbon production but also promises economic benefits and energy security for the region. The success of this production enhancement campaign is expected to have a positive ripple effect on the local economy and energy sector.
